Hi, I’m Matthew Bartlett.
I’m a programmer, designer & IT generalist from Wellington, New Zealand, and I’m looking for new projects.

For the past 3 years I’ve been co-founding Citizen AI, a charitable company picking some of the low-hanging fruit of artificial intelligence to advance access to justice for New Zealanders.
We make the legal help chatbots Rentbot and Workbot. These run on some open-source software I developed — though the heavy lifting is done by a bunch of other services: Dialogflow, Squidex and Botkit.
I’m proud of that software; it serves thousands of New Zealanders a week.
For the last few years I’ve been a co-owner at Loomio, helping us get business insights from masses of data. I’ve been answering questions like: • ‘Which referring websites generate the most paying customers?’ • ‘For people who accept their email invite, how long do they tend to take?’ • ‘Does new feature X help more of our users get value from the software?’
This work is based on a stack of Rails + Angular + Ahoy + Metabase plus Google Analytics. I’m also great with SQL, plus node, php, ux and collaboration chops & learn new tech quickly.
